WFMW: Backwards Edition: Blogger Help!

So this week its the Backwards Edition of Works for Me Wednesday which means I get to ask you a question and hopefully you can help me.

Here is my question: How do I get my blog to load faster?

It loads fine on my computer at work, but at home it locks up my computer. I have friends and family that say the same thing that it locks up their computer. Consequently they don't visit as often as they & I would like them to.

Any suggestions?

  1. it's probably all those sparkly side-bar things that you have over there on the right that are making things load slowly. the whole thing loaded strangely for me too. good luck! i'd strip down to bare simple stuff in the sidebar and see if that helps.

  2. I think we should do a test run without the blinkies and see how that works for you!

PS: I see you love someone with autism. Me too. I work with a precious little girl who has autism and it's like she's a part of my family now, I adore her.

    Hugs,

  3. I third the idea of trimming down the side bar bling. Maybe even cutting down the size of the pictures you post too. Every time you ass something with pictures it is going to take longer to load up and that time counts especially if you have dial-up.

  4. A blog friend asked about this a few months ago and apparently the slow loading is due to:

    lots of pictures
    lots of sidebar action
lots of links to other blogs (esp in the sidebar)

when you remove those things, it should load faster :)

  6. Your blog loaded just fine for me.

I was having that issue with my blog as well -- it loaded fine for most people, but some people had a lot of issues with it. Someone on a Blogger Help group suggested having fewer posts showing up on the main page. It is defaulted to like 10 posts, and I took it down to six or so.
