Having fun at the Apple Orchard

Today after Kylie's soccer game I took the girls to a nearby orchard. We had a great time! Our or issue was that it was so blazing hot. I apparently forgot to check how warm it was supposed to be, the van thermometer said it was 85!
The girls thought it was so cool, that I let them climb on the this tractor.
If you look in the background, you can see a ferris wheel! Yes a ferris wheel at an Orchard, how cool is that?!
Posing with the pumpkins while we were waiting in line to get into the Orchard.
It also had a small zoo, Lacey was totally intrigued. She mostly just stood back and watched Kylie feed the animals.

Check out those rosy cheeks!
The obligatory pumpkin photo...
Here we go picking apples!
Got one!

Kylie picked quite a few apples, she was lovin' it
Can't you tell?
This orchard was so much fun, they are open to the public starting in June. In addition to apples and pumpkins they also have cherries, peaches, and raspberries! We will have to go back next year during the summer and pick some of these tasty treats. Our family loves fruit! They also have a big play area for the kids to play in, unlimited hayrides, a haunted house in the fall, and some live entertainment. Pretty cool to find this all in one place for a very reasonable price.
Note to Mommy: bring more water!

Apple Festival Parade

This weekend was also the annual Apple Fesival Parade. Kylie had the opportunity to be in the parade, on two different floats actually. Her soccer team float and her school float. She chose the school float. Here are some of the pictures I took of her schools float.

Ms. J...doesn't she look great! The theme was fiesta!
Great float, right?!
Look at the back, do you see Kylie?
All in all it was a great day, a lot cold but the kids and teachers did great with their float!

Apple Festival

At the last minute I decided to take the girls to the annual apple festival in our town. My main reason for deciding to go was the weather...it was nearly 70 on Friday night because I knew was going to be cold and windy on today. We went and the girls had a great time with all the rides...mostly Kylie since she was big enough to ride most all of them.

There were exactly 2 that Lacey could ride on without me...this truck ride was one of them. She started off very happy to be riding, but the longer it took them to get going the less she was liking the idea of the ride...
This was the result...she cried the entire ride! I thought this would cure her wanting to ride on anymore rides, I was wrong.
Kylie absolutely loves the trampoline bungee jumping, she's done it before so she knew she would love it this time too! She was relentless about doing this, so I gave in since going to the festival was for their enjoyment anyway :)
Lacey had a great time watching big sister jumping!
As you can tell she thoroughly enjoyed herself as you can tell :)
This was Lacey's favorite ride. Something was obviously very funny!
They both had a great time on this ride! Love these 2!

Hesston Steam Museum

On Labor Day the girls and I visited a local Steam Museum, we had a lot of fun!

There are 3 sizes of trains you can ride, all steam powered. This is the 1/16th scale train!

Here we go! One of 2 of the train engineers on the 1/8th scale train

These trains are very loud, but the girls loved it!

Each ride was at least 15-20 long, through the forest and across bridges

On the way back to the train station Kylie spotted this swan

Our view from the full scale train ride

The front of our trian
Saw a steam powered power plant

Kylie blew the whistle at the power plant, sent black smoke everywhere
Lacey got to blow the whiste too! Matter of fact she made sure she got to do it, as we were walking away she was trying to get of the wagon while I was walking. When I stopped she said me too and made her way straight back where we came from...too cute!

We got to look inside a cuboose, Lacey's trying to get me to come up there with her.

Kylie loved being able to look and play in the cuboose.

We saw a huge saw mill, both girls thought this was pretty neat!

1st Grade

And so it begins, another year of school. I can hardly believe our oldest daughter, Kylie is starting first grade today. It seems as though it was only yesterday that we were bringing her home from the hospital. And now this morning I was dropping her off for her first day of FIRST grade!
I hope she has an amazing first day and an even more amazing year in first grade. She was very excited to start school. She knew who her teach was ahead of time. She describe Mrs F. as 'a very loving lady who gives lots of hugs and never yells'. Doesn't that description make her sound the best?! I think so, and having only met met her last week at back to school night and talking her her a little bit this morning, it seems as though Kylie's description is right on track!

Fun with Friends

Saturday after Kylie's soccer game one of Kylie's best friends came over to play. While they were here we had a mini photo shoot. They turned out great!

3 little monkeys sitting in a tree
1 jumped out and then there were 2!
Love this picture of these two....best friends

sisters :)
Baby J
Isn't he so cute!?
All in all it was a great day to play. Too bad Lacey missed the photo shoot, she was napping.

Ring around a Rosie...

A pocket full of posies,
Ashes! Ashes!
We all fall down
