Pumpkin Carving!

Our pumpkin carving experience went a little something like this: Kylie started off taking the stuff out of the pumpkins, then decided that it was too yucky,
she decided that coloring the outside was much better.
Lacey thought about taking the stuff out and decided that it was yucky also
so she opted to stick stickers on her perfect pumpkin

and color Mommy's little pumpkin.

After all was said and done Mommy was left to carve and empty out 2 pumpkins. And to be quite honest I really do not enjoy carving pumpkins. So next year it will be back to painting and decorating just the outside...no carving.

Halloween Parties!

Today I had the pleasure of attending not one, but two Halloween party's! First up, Lacey's party. They played games, decorated their candy buckets, stamped and colored pictures. Then it was time for the grand finale of the party...trick or treating! Lacey had lots of fun getting the candy. She was, however, NOT happy about the fact that she was only allowed one piece of candy! This really upset her. She finally got over her frustration of only being allowed one piece and then it was time for me to go back to work. This did NOT go over well at all. The good news is she took a great nap and was in a great mood when I picked her up!

Her and another little girl in her class were both Minnie Mouse. There were 2 Minnies, a Mickey, a Firefighter, and a Frog. They were all super cute in their costumes.
Then it was time for Kylie's party. They also had a parade of costumes, they had an afternoon snack that included: fruit, vegetables, cheese & crackers, and cookies; made finger puppets; played musical chairs; and freeze dance. They had a ton of fun. My personal favorite part was watching them play freeze dance, something about watching little kids dance just makes me smile. They are so carefree!
There are only four girls in her class, there were 2 witches, a spiderwick princess, and a ballerina. I remember there being two warewoves, Obi-Wan Kenobi, a vampire, two skeletons, thomas the train, and Darth Vader. Lots of interesting costumes!

Great times were had by all...including Mommy :)

The Good Witch and Minnie Mouse

I took the girls to our church's annual Trunk or Treat today. It's so great to be able to let them get dressed up in their halloween costumes and go trick or treating in a safe enviornment. Honestly I'm not sure Kylie knows that some people go do to door trick or treating as she has never done it that way...and I'd like to keep it that way as long as I can. There are a couple of other Trunk or Treat's this weekend that we will go to also. The girls have so much fun, and of course they look so darn cute in their costumes!

I have some pictures of them individually that I will post later, you know equal opportunity :)

Lacey's Field Trip

Yesterday Lacey's daycare went on a field trip to the pumpkin patch. Lacey was so excited that when we left the parking lot at daycare she started crying 'go to punkin patch, go to punkin patch' she didn't realize that is where we were going.

The first thing they let her group do was jump on the Jumping Pillow. I have to admit I was a bit taken aback since there is sand everywhere and it was in the 40s...all the kids were bundled up, and now you want me to take off their shoes??? I did take Lacey's off and let her jump (obviously) and she had a blast!
Then it was time to take a hayride to pick the perfect pumpkin. Lacey chose the first one she walked up to, and I for one, think she did find that perfect pumpkin. She is very proud of her pumpkin and reminds all of us who's pumpkin it is.
After the hayride they walked through a corn maze and did a scavanger hunt to find all the animals they could. Lacey's class of two year olds did a great job! They also got to look at the animals, which Lacey loved.
Then it was time for the cow train and sliding into the corn pit. All of the children had a great time and I'm sure most if not all were wore out by the time they got back to school. Lacey took a well needed nap!

A field trip to "The Patch"

On Tuesday the Kindergarten and First Grader's went on a field trip to The Patch. The kids had lots of fun.
They went on hayrides, picked their favorite pumpkin, learned about some the fruits and vegetables that grow at The Patch. The kids helped pick up some of the bad apples that had fallen from the apple trees and they also got to sample a GOOD apple too!
learned about some of the animals at The Patch and got to feed a few of them too!

Some of the kids schucked the corn off the cob to give to the animals outside. They fed the bunnies the carrots they picked in the garden. They also got to hold a freshly laid egg. they kids loved it!
Overall it was a great educational field trip! I along with the other parents that chaparoned had a great time too!

Pile of Leaves!

This weekend Kylie and I raked up all the leaves we could find in our backyard. There were quite a few but this isn't even a 1/4 of what will actually fall.

We raked them with the idea of jumping into them not cleaning up the yard. Both girls had so much fun, as you can see for yourself.

One of the many, many times Kylie jumped into the pile:
Lacey's attempt:
Lacey's was actually pretty funny considering that she would fall right at the very beginning of the pile and barely hit any leaves at all! That did not deter her at all, she loved playing in those leaves.

I loved watching them have so much fun. They both just had looks of joy on their faces as they played in the leaves. Something so simple, something so fun!

What did you do this weekend?

Mommy and her girls

It's always tough to get one good picture, but when you do the effort is so worth it. And I think we got at least one. :-)

A Trio of Girls!

I'm not sure why I haven't posted this before but in September we found out our third baby is agirl! Here is our precious third daughter first picture. The ultrasound tech was slight stingy on the amount of pictures so this is the only one we got.
The she was movin' and groovin' the entire ultrasound. The tech had a bit of a hard time getting her measurements because everytime she started to take one, Little Miss would move! The doctors said everything looked good and she was on track for her due date. It was so much fun to watch her...a little window into her world.

Having fun at the Apple Orchard

Today after Kylie's soccer game I took the girls to a nearby orchard. We had a great time! Our or issue was that it was so blazing hot. I apparently forgot to check how warm it was supposed to be, the van thermometer said it was 85!
The girls thought it was so cool, that I let them climb on the this tractor.
If you look in the background, you can see a ferris wheel! Yes a ferris wheel at an Orchard, how cool is that?!
Posing with the pumpkins while we were waiting in line to get into the Orchard.
It also had a small zoo, Lacey was totally intrigued. She mostly just stood back and watched Kylie feed the animals.

Check out those rosy cheeks!
The obligatory pumpkin photo...
Here we go picking apples!
Got one!

Kylie picked quite a few apples, she was lovin' it
Can't you tell?
This orchard was so much fun, they are open to the public starting in June. In addition to apples and pumpkins they also have cherries, peaches, and raspberries! We will have to go back next year during the summer and pick some of these tasty treats. Our family loves fruit! They also have a big play area for the kids to play in, unlimited hayrides, a haunted house in the fall, and some live entertainment. Pretty cool to find this all in one place for a very reasonable price.
Note to Mommy: bring more water!
